Cairo, 23 October 2012 – In pursuit of its mandate to promote and finance trade in Africa, the African Export-Import Bank has began accepting applications from African university students for slots in its internship programme scheduled to run from this December to May 2013.

Jean-Louis Ekra, President of the Bank, said that internship was being offered in recognition of the need to promote broader understanding of the problems of African trade and trade finance, as well as the principles of trade finance, especially structured trade finance which is the Bank’s operating model.

“It is expected that the interns will leave with better knowledge of the Bank’s mandate and operating model which they will put to use as they develop their careers, with direct benefits to the Bank and to trade in Africa,” he added.

The deadline for receiving the applications is 9 November 2012.

The internship is open to fulltime undergraduate and graduate students who are nationals of the Bank’s member states and who are aged between 20 years and 32 years. The Bank is particularly interested in candidates who are studying economics, business administration, finance, accounting, social sciences, statistics or law.
