President Oramah Holds Talks with Burundi’s Finance Minister

Prof. Benedict Oramah, President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), today in Bali, Indonesia, met with Domitien Ndihokubwayo, Minister of Finance of Burundi, to discuss cooperation between Afreximbank and Burundi and explore the Bank’s support to Burundi’s economic development.

The meeting was the first of a series with political, economic and business leaders lined up for the Afreximbank delegation on the sidelines of the 2018 International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Annual Meetings which is taking place from 8 to 14 October.

The two discussed the status of Burundi’s ratification of the Bank’s Establishment Agreement, the country’s participation in the capital of Afreximbank, and Afreximbank’s support to Burundi’s the economic development agenda.

President Oramah took the opportunity of the meeting to brief the Minister on the activities of the Bank in Burundi and to invite Burundi to participate in the Intra-African Trade Fair being organised by the Bank in Cairo in December.

Accompanying the Minister to the meeting were Jean Ciza, the new governor of the Bank of the Republic of Burundi, and Vénuste Ndikumwenayo, the Director of Economic Research and Statistics.
