Cairo – In recognition of his outstanding achievements and commitment to Africa, the African Banker Awards committee on 29 May, honoured Afreximbank President Jean-Louis Ekra with the African Banker Lifetime Achievement Award. Bestowing the award at a ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco, during the Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank, the Committee said that President Ekra had shown remarkable courage and leadership in moving the continent forward.
“We hope this award will prove inspirational to others”, said the Committee in a citation during the ceremony which brought together some 600 leading figures, including Africa’s top business leaders, finance ministers, central bank governors, and senior representatives from multilateral institutions. In a message, Mr. Ekra said that he saw the award as an honor for all members of the Afreximbank family as it reflected the hard work and dedication of the team.
The event was organised by African Banker magazine, IC Events and BusinessinAfrica Events to celebrate excellence and best practices in African banking and finance.
