Job Summary
The Assistant Manager, Treasury & Resource Mobilisation (Africa Resource Mobilisation – TRMA) will support the funding process of the Bank, ensuring strong investor relationships, deposit management, and execution of resource mobilisation strategies within Africa. The role involves raising local currency funding, engaging with African Central Banks, pension funds, and institutional investors, and managing deposit-taking activities.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in treasury operations, financial markets, resource mobilisation, and investor relationship management within the financial services industry.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Strategy Execution
- Support the development and execution of the Africa-Focused Funding Mobilisation Strategy.
- Assist in raising local currency funding from African markets to diversify the Bank’s funding base.
- Contribute to the establishment of Debt and Capital Market Programs in African countries.
- Execute wholesale deposit-taking transactions in alignment with the Bank’s guidelines.
Treasury Product Development & Sales
- Participate in client meetings and conference calls to assess investor needs.
- Identify and structure treasury product solutions in collaboration with origination teams.
- Present features and benefits of treasury products to clients and investors.
- Work closely with internal teams to develop new product offerings for the Bank’s funding initiatives.
- Assist in preparing investor presentations and sales materials for engagement.
Investor Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain relationships with African Central Banks, pension funds, institutional investors, and deposit counterparties.
- Arrange and participate in treasury roadshows and investor engagements.
- Ensure timely communication and reporting to key stakeholders and investors.
- Engage with regional trade blocs to enhance deposit and funding partnerships.
Reporting & Risk Management
- Monitor and report on the progress of the Africa-Focused Funding Mobilisation Plan.
- Manage the deposit-taking portfolio, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with in-country deposit regulations and treasury policies.
- Develop and maintain a market-standard pricing model for deposit-taking activities.
- Support the implementation of the Bank’s contingency funding plan for liquidity risk management.
Compliance & Regulatory Responsibilities
- Adhere to Afreximbank’s AML, Regulatory, and Conduct Compliance policies, including:
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Counter-Terrorism Financing
- Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC)
- Conflicts of Interest Policies
- Insider Trading Guidelines
- Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities to the Compliance Department.
- Complete the Annual Compliance Training & Assessment.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Postgraduate degree in Finance, Banking, or Investment is preferred.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., AMCT, ACI, CTP) is an added advantage.

Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in treasury, financial markets, or resource mobilisation.
- Proven expertise in treasury product sales, deposit-taking, and capital markets.
- Experience working with African financial institutions, central banks, pension funds, and institutional investors.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of treasury funding strategies and deposit mobilisation.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, pricing models, and investor reporting.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Familiarity with capital markets, liquidity management, and risk controls.

- Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English or French (knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese is an advantage).
