Job Summary
The Assistant Manager, Arise Implant Relationship Manager (GDIZ Benin) will be responsible for driving export transactions and initiatives within Arise Industrial Parks. The role involves managing programs, analyzing tenant performance, facilitating financing and credit processes, and ensuring compliance with AML and regulatory policies.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in trade finance, export development, structured finance, and relationship management, with a deep understanding of trade corridors such as China and India.
Key Responsibilities
Business Origination & Trade Finance Execution
- Originate and execute export-related transactions within the Arise network of Industrial Parks (IPs).
- Develop, market, and manage products, initiatives, and programs targeting Arise IP tenants to facilitate exports, particularly to China and India.
- Support the production of business development plans, covering all aspects of financing for Afreximbank’s export development objectives within Arise IPs.
- Analyze operational and financial performance of IP tenants, review investment proposals, evaluate risks, and drive viable transactions to financial close.
- Own the customer portfolio, managing the process from origination to credit approval.
- Develop market expansion initiatives that match IP tenants with buyers/off-takers in Asian trade corridors, with Afreximbank providing financing for production.
Credit & Transaction Structuring
- Support the Credit Department by providing relevant transaction information to facilitate the credit process.
- Assist the Legal Department in transaction documentation and compliance.
- Liaise with Banking Operations to ensure that once approvals are obtained, disbursements are processed within required timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
- Establish strong ties with key market players, IP tenants, prospective buyers/off-takers, financial institutions, and commodity boards.
- Engage with government agencies, regulators, and trade associations to facilitate smooth export transactions.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to Afreximbank’s AML, Regulatory, and Conduct Compliance policies, including:
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Counter-Terrorism Financing
- Conflicts of Interest Policies
- Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) Guidelines
- Insider Trading & Market Conduct Rules
- Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities to the Compliance Department.
- Complete the Annual Compliance Training & Assessment.
- Obtain and manage KYC documentation for all clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Compliance team to ensure all Bank products comply with relevant country legislation.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Education:
- Postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Banking, or Finance from a recognized university.
- A professional qualification in Banking or International Trade Finance is an added advantage.

Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in trade finance, export development finance, structured trade finance, or project financing.
- Proven experience in developing and marketing trade finance products.
- Strong expertise in credit analysis, documentation, and relationship management.
- Ability to assess customer needs and develop relevant financing solutions.
- Knowledge of Africa’s and Asia’s trade finance landscapes, particularly China and India.
- Ability to engage senior officials of banks, corporates, and governments.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and manage financial resources effectively.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Expertise in structured finance, risk management, and credit evaluation.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and investment structuring.
- Understanding of industrial park financing, market access facilitation, and SME trade policies.

Soft Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (knowledge of French, Arabic, or Portuguese is an advantage).
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail, professionalism, and strategic thinking.
- Willingness to travel extensively to engage with stakeholders and oversee trade expansion initiatives.
