Job Summary
The Assistant Manager, Human Resources (Planning & Business Support) will be responsible for HR strategic planning, performance monitoring, and business support functions within the Human Resources Department. The role involves tracking HR action plans, preparing strategic reports, managing HR operational risks, and supporting pension scheme administration.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in HR strategy, workforce planning, performance management, and HR analytics, with experience in business support functions within a corporate HR setting.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Performance Management
- Support the periodic review and update of the HR management strategy to align with Afreximbank’s corporate objectives.
- Monitor HR performance metrics and workforce planning, assisting with forecasting and people analytics.
- Track the HR strategic action plans, ensuring timely implementation and reporting.
- Coordinate the Tier 2 and Tier 3 HR scorecard reporting to align with Tier 1.75 scorecards.
- Support the preparation of the HR Monthly Report to the President and other executive reports.
- Assist in the development of annual departmental strategy and operational planning processes.
Business Support & HR Operational Efficiency
- Streamline and optimize HR processes, ensuring efficiency and alignment with business goals.
- Develop and manage HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Oversee HR document management and ensure compliance with electronic records management policies.
- Coordinate with the Finance team to manage HR budgets, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
- Ensure timely resolution of HR operational risk and audit-related issues.
Pension Scheme Administration
- Support the management of the Afreximbank Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme, assisting with trustee coordination and fund administration.
- Assist in the preparation of the pension scheme annual plan, aligning with HR and corporate objectives.
- Provide secretarial support for the Pension Scheme Board of Trustees, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
- Engage with fund managers, administrators, and corporate trustees to oversee pension fund operations.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to Afreximbank’s AML, Regulatory, and Conduct Compliance policies, including:
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Counter-Terrorism Financing
- Conflicts of Interest Policies
- Anti-Bribery & Corruption Guidelines
- Insider Trading & Market Conduct Rules
- Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities to the Compliance Department.
- Complete the Annual Compliance Training & Assessment.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Education:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university.

Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HR strategy, business support, workforce planning, or HR analytics.
- Strong understanding of HR performance metrics, scorecard reporting, and strategic workforce planning.
- Experience managing HR budgets, operational risk, and pension administration.
- Proven track record in HR project management, SOP development, and business process optimization.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in HR analytics, workforce planning, and performance tracking tools.
- Expertise in financial analysis, cost tracking, and budget variance reporting.
- Strong understanding of pension scheme management, fund administration, and trustee governance.

- Fluency in English is required (French, Arabic, or Portuguese is an advantage).
- Strong relationship management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail, professionalism, and organizational skills.
