Job Summary
The Manager, Export Development Finance and Advisory (Agro-Processing & Light Manufacturing) will be responsible for originating, structuring, and executing financing for agro-processing and light manufacturing projects to drive export development. The role involves facilitating trade finance transactions, supporting credit and legal processes, and ensuring timely project execution.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in structured trade finance, export development, industrial financing, and market expansion strategies with a deep understanding of Africa’s agro-processing and manufacturing sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Origination & Financing
- Identify and develop agro-processing and light manufacturing projects in collaboration with branch teams.
- Structure financing transactions and negotiate term sheets for project execution.
- Develop business plans and annual financing strategies for export development initiatives.
- Support clients in designing financing structures for light manufacturing and agro-industrial projects.
- Manage project portfolios, ensuring compliance with credit approval and contracting requirements.
Trade Finance & Market Expansion
- Develop and market export-oriented financing products to facilitate trade growth.
- Execute roadshows and promotional campaigns to enhance the Bank’s market presence in targeted sectors.
- Establish and maintain relationships with financial institutions, project sponsors, corporates, and commodity boards.
- Ensure financing disbursement and portfolio management align with approved agreements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance
- Collaborate with credit and legal teams to support financing approvals and documentation.
- Work closely with Banking Operations to ensure disbursement and post-financing monitoring.
- Ensure adherence to Afreximbank’s AML, regulatory, and compliance policies, including:
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Counter-Terrorism Financing
- Conflicts of Interest & Staff Conduct Policies
- Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) Guidelines
- Insider Trading & Market Conduct Rules
- Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities to the Compliance Department.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Education:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, or International Trade Finance from a recognized university.

Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in trade and export development finance, structured trade finance, or project-related financing.
- Strong understanding of syndications, co-financing, correspondent banking, letters of credit, factoring, forfaiting, and structured trade finance products.
- Proven ability to engage senior officials in financial institutions, governments, and corporates.
- Experience in marketing and selling trade finance and project finance solutions.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Expertise in structured finance, credit risk assessment, and trade facilitation.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, investment structuring, and credit evaluation.
- Strong understanding of Africa’s agricultural value chains, industrialization frameworks, and trade policies.

Soft Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French, Arabic, or Portuguese is an advantage).
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel extensively to engage with stakeholders and oversee projects.
