Leaders Discuss Ways to Boost Africa in Brazil

Opportunities for boosting awareness and cooperation between Africa and Brazil were discussed today at the Headquarters of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) during a visit to the Bank by Prof. Joao Bosco Monte, President of the Brazil Africa Institute.

Prof. Monte, who was at the Bank to discuss the activities of the Brazil Africa Institute and to explore areas of cooperation with Afreximbank, was received by Dr. Benedict Oramah, the President of Afreximbank, joined by several other senior staff members of the Bank.

Prof. Monte informed the Bank that the Institute was planning a Brazil-Africa Forum that would take place in Sao Paulo from 23 to 24 November and invited the Bank to attend and participate.

He said that the Forum would focus on the challenges of sustainable growth within the innovation and technology sector. It would be a high-level event with participants drawn from the various continents.

President Oramah commended the Institute for its work in promoting Africa and expressed the willingness of the Bank to work with Institute where appropriate.

The Brazil Africa Institute is a non-profit organization working for political, academic, social and, economic rapprochement between Brazil and Africa with the goal of bridging the gap created by language, distance and culture and championing engagement to create a strong development agenda.
